This pregnancy is going great!

I really can not complain. This has been such an easy pregnancy -- just like I had with Everett. Well, that could mean that I am in for a 2nd child who is hard-headed, stubborn and to smart for his own good! HA! Who knows. I will say that my allergies and sinuses are crazy. They seem to get worse in the mornings and at night. I do believe what they say, that during pregnancy your sinuses swell...which just adds to the annoyance of regular sinus and allergies problems. I have started again with the whole when I eat, I get full sooo fast. I guess my stomach is being smooshed by the baby. I am hungry a lot, but can only eat small amounts. I am counting down until Wed., Sept. 5th....the day we find out if this baby is a boy or a girl. I can't wait. It's very exciting. Oh, and another great thing is that my face is less broken out right now than it has been in years! Yeah! So, all in all, things couldn't be better.

On another note, Everett started swimming lessons this week and is doing quite well. He loves it, so I have no doubt he will become a good swimmer. This is his last week of summer camp. We will have him at home all of next week and then K-5 starts! I can hardly believe he will be in kindergarten. Wow, how time flies.

Finally, the pictures of Baby Davis!!

During this ultrasound the baby kept bouncing its little legs up and down. It has really cute legs! I was about 12 weeks pregnant when these pictures were taken, I think. Lauren has the originals with the date on them -- I left them by accident when I was up there a few weeks ago. I guess in 3 to 5 weeks I will have the "BIG" ultrasound appointment --and we will find out if baby Davis is a boy or girl. Oh, and all bets are on.....let us know if you think it's a boy or girl!
Everett claims the baby is his future baby sister.....what do you think???

I heard the baby's heart beat yesterday!

I finally saw the OB nurse yesterday. Everything checked out just fine. There is a device they use on your stomach to hear the baby's heart beat. I laid down on the bed and the nurse said, "Well, you might be too early on in your pregnancy to hear the heart beat, but we will try." Well, what do you know? She literally placed the microphone (or whatever the device is called - maybe a type of transducer?) right on my stomach and the heart beat of the baby was immediately detected -- and a very strong heart beat I might add. It's always such a relief for me to see and or hear the heart beat. I guess it reassures me that everything is OK. I guess I feel like the baby is in good hands as it is prayed for by my sweet Everett almost every night. He asks God to keep his mommy's baby in her stomach AND his Aunt Lauren's baby in her stomach safe and healthy. It is sooo sweet. ;o)

I am soooo in the awkward stage...

My normal clothes are a little on the snug side but maternity clothes are a little too big. It's really annoying. I don't even really look prego...just sort of fat. So, yesterday - with Chris in tow (everett was with mom and dad) - I went to the mall. Chris waited patiently while I tried on bras at Belk's. During this time he meandered to the children's section and picked some cute shirts/shorts out for Everett. After we were done at Belk's we went to the Motherhood Maternity store where I picked up some pants and a few new shirts. I know Christopher was sooo bored but it was fun that he came with me! He also went grocery shopping at Earth Fare with me....it was fun!

After we got home he cut the grass and I pulled about 5 pounds of weeds out of the flowerbeds. I got a shower and went to pick up everett at mom and dad's. When I got home Everett went to bed and Christopher cooked a fabulous meal...baked potatoes and steak! Yummy! He also cooked me two chicken breasts for me to eat this week for lunch. So that was nice.

We had a nice weekend, all in all. Today is just another busy Monday. Oh, and on August 6th I go to see the doctor and I hope to finally meet with the OB nurse. Will keep you updated.

Due Date is either January 24th or the 26th of 2008!

This morning I went to see Doctor Baird and to have an ultrasound. This was the first visit that Christopher was able to sneak away from work long enough to come to. The ultrasound is always done first at this particular doctor's office and I was a bit nervous. I guess because of our previous miscarriage all I can think about before I go in for the ultrasound is, "does the baby have a heart beat?" Of course I asked today....and YES it did! In fact, the heart rate was 170 beats/minute. So you can imagine the relief we both felt.

The baby has gotten a lot bigger from my last ultrasound at 8 weeks. Today baby davis was bouncing around and stretching its legs. Cute legs I might add! :o) As of today, I am 11 weeks and 5 days pregnant - getting close to the 2nd trimester. I will post the ultrasound pictures as soon as I can.

So far this pregnancy has been good to me. Everett's was a breeze as far as symptoms go. So far I have had some crampy stomach issues and some heartburn. I really can't complain though. I find that compared to the pregnancy with Everett, ultrasounds can tell you a lot more now. The technician did a measurement of extra skin on the back of the neck...this skin on baby davis measured 1.3 (not sure if it is millimeters or what?) and if the skin on a baby measures over 3 then their is a much higher chance of down's syndrome. Isn't that wild? I couldn't believe it. Also, for fun - the tech tried to see if the baby was a boy or girl since the legs were in a good position to look - looks like a boy - but she said you can't tell for sure yet, so we shall see!

Christopher's parents came by the house tonight - just in from Florida - hoping to see Everett (he was at his friend Brandon's house swimming and enjoying a good hot dog for dinner!). Needless to say, they were very happy when they found out our good news. And Lauren - they were so happy for you and Josh, too! :o)
